Merbau wood ranges in color from brown-grey to dark reddish-brown with various natural tones. Color differences between individual boards are natural and common for this species. Merbau is considered a very durable and extremely hard hardwood. It performs exceptionally well in all aspects and becomes highly stable after kiln drying. Thanks to its unique properties and excellent stability, Merbau is regarded as one of the finest hardwood species in the world.
Its durability and longevity are ensured by its high density and natural compounds. Merbau is naturally resistant to fungi, insects, and harsh weather conditions. In terms of performance, Merbau is often compared to teak for its durability, although it is significantly harder. Its hardness is also comparable to that of rosewood.
